Challenge
A Fortune 100 financial services firm required a talent acquisition program that could support business growth through high volume hiring with a focus on diversity. More than 1,000 new hires were needed each year across 12 North American regions and hundreds of local branches. Goals were to increase quality of hires, improve retention, and become an industry employer of choice.
Manpower Business Solutions (MBS) partnered with the client to become the talent acquisition provider for all new financial services trainees. Grounded in a well-known approach to large-scale organizational change, the MBS program was designed to help branch managers hire the most qualified trainees through the following program:
- MBS performed an in-depth audit of the firm's current recruiting practices and identified key areas for process improvement. We also built an ideal candidate profile and designed assessment tools to help ensure the optimal fit.
- MBS recommended the development of a corporate "guiding team." As the firm's 750 branch managers had little experience in hiring trainees and deploying trainee programs, it was critical to gain support and leadership from all levels of corporate management. Program champions included the Vice President of Operations, Director of Financial Consultant Recruiting and the Vice President of Training.
- MBS developed a Communications Plan outlining a series of "road shows" that took place within the first 90 days. Approximately 80 -100 branch managers attended across 12 regions. At each meeting, the firm's leadership introduced the program and the MBS team presented tools and best practices for recruiting.
- MBS provided experienced, senior recruiters to provide specialized recruiting resources and clear points of contact.
- Two years into the program, MBS continues to provide company-wide updates on program completion by trainees and new hires.
